​​​Sometimes I get a call that is life or death, and a decision has to be made right at that moment. That’s just what happened when I got the call from a rescue friend of mine about a desperate situation with a young feral cat. My friend told me that after MONTHS of surviving over the winter with a piece of plastic netting wrapped around her neck and front leg this young cat was trapped and finally rescued. She was brought to a local vet. The net had cut deep through her skin around her neck and her front leg. The wounds were terribly infected and gruesome. How she survived was nothing short of a miracle. Without immediate surgery, and life saving care, she would not survive. Sadly, the vet would not help her unless a rescue would agree to take her after she healed and they needed an immediate answer. That was a problem. She was very feral and aggressive. No organization was able to help her. So, after struggling to survive, starving, cold and in terrible pain she was rescued just to be euthanized. My friend knows that we are always at capacity and have a waiting list, but thankfully she contacted me. Of course, I said YES! That answer gave them the go ahead to save her life.

The vet was able to stitch the wound on her neck, but the net had cut deeply into her leg and they needed to amputate. After weeks at the vet, she healed beautifully. We welcomed her to the sanctuary and began trying to convince her that we were the “good guys”. We named her Trinity. She was very aggressive and terrified, which was totally understandable. People were scary enough, but she was at a disadvantage having only 3 legs and her survival instinct put her in “fight” mode.  

Very slowly, Trinity came to understand that she was only going to be given kindness. She stopped trying to attack us when we opened her cage. She is now free to roam the sanctuary and having only 3 legs does not hold her back at all!! She runs across the outdoor enclosure like a cheetah! She is not afraid to be around us and sleeps comfortably on the couch. While we are not able to touch her yet...that will come in time. She is gorgeous, healthy, happy and living her best life!!
