Cece
CeCe, who was 10 yrs at the time, was taken in by another organization after her elderly mom had passed away. CeCe’s world was turned upside down and she reacted with aggression. Instead of understanding her and showing empathy and giving her time to adjust, she was immediately deemed feral and aggressive and put in a cage where she sat in the dark for most of the day for 4 years!
Four years. Never let out of her prison for the crime of being scared and misunderstood. She was also diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and was not being given the medication she needed to be healthy.
One of my rescue friends brought my attention to CeCe’s situation when her health started to decline. She started vomiting daily due to the stress of the confinement and thyroid disease. I was asked if I could take her in and help her.
Of course, I said “yes, get her out of there!”
CeCe came to the Sanctuary and within just a couple of days she showed us her true self. Now at14, she is a sweet old lady who just wants love and attention. She is such a happy girl who shows NO aggression at all! We try to spoil her as much as possible to try to make up for those lonely years. Now in our care CeCe’s senior years will be happy ones.
