Arthur
Update 6-20-18
Arthur has come a very long way!! He came in feral and fearful, sick and in deplorable health. He has received very intensive care and kindness from his foster mom. While he still has some on-going challenges he has become very affectionate and loving. He loves and appreciates his comfy bed and endless food supply but more than that he loves to be petted and is so happy and appreciative of our kindness, patience and understanding ..... UPDATE! 3-29-18
Arthur is trying very hard to do better. He is a cat with a strong will to survive. We took a few steps back with him and had to bring him to the vet with some bleeding from his nose and mouth. Fortunately the vet says it is still the viral infection that is hard for him to get rid of and not a tumor or something more sinister. Because of the virus he has developed an ulcer on his tongue which is making him uncomfortable and causing the bleeding. We changed his medication to help support him while his immune system fights the virus. We also updated his blood work. The good news is that his bloodwork is looking better, he is improving, however they also discovered that he has heart worm! Heart worm in cats is EXTRAORDINARILY Rare. Why this poor cat must deal with one more problem we will never know. But he wants to fight so we will fight along side him and try to get to healthier days. In the mean time he is a very good boy who is putting up with our human ways of caring for him! |
We rescued Arthur out of the bitter cold this winter.
He was starving and suffering. His mouth was inflamed , most of his teeth were missing or rotted. With his mouth is such bad condition he could not close his mouth completely so he could not eat easily.
His ears are so scarred from fighting and scratching out ear mites that they are deformed. His ears can no longer stand up because of the thick scar tissue that has formed. Arthur was skin and bones his long hair was matted with dirt. I can't imagine the pain he was in, the despair was obvious by the look on his face. This is a cat that broke my heart from the minute I saw him.
Arthur is fearful of people, for good reason, and will stay with us at the sanctuary. He will be given all the care and love he needs.
Your donations make it possible to give him the life of comfort and kindness that he never had.
