Saving Ozzie and Harriet

BDRF found Ozzie and Harriet just in time to save their lives and their sight.
We had picked up their mom as a stray to get her spayed. The neighbors had said that some of her kittens had been given away and the last two had not been seen for over two weeks. We assumed they had died. Once we took mom, Cali, to the vet we realized she was still nursing and her kittens were still alive!!
We spent the next 4 days, with the help of the neighbors, looking for these two phantom kittens. After 4 cold days, out alone, sick and hungry we FOUND THEM!! Little Ozzie gave us a run for our money but we brought both kittens to safety. Their eyes were almost glued shut with green goo, their 3rd eyelids were swollen and infected and protruding from the eye socket. We thought there would be permanent sight damage and even blindness. But after getting them to safety and giving them medication their eyes began to recover. They also had a lot of congestion but antibiotics helped to clear that up as well. The best part came when we reunited them with their mom! She went to work cleaning them and nursing them. It was a sight to behold! One week later they had both gained over 1/2 a pound and were thriving!!
